The origins of the word tulle for warp-knitted fabrics

The word that gives name to tulle fabrics, of the warp knit genre, comes from the French population called Tulle.

Within the category of warp knitting, there are fabrics with tulle binding, also called tulle fabrics. These are lightweight fabrics, usually made with continuous multifilament yarns of chemical fibers or silk. They are often used as a base for the manufacture of fabrics, in which wefts that pass between the needles of the machine make shapes or patterns. These are fabrics that are mainly used to make veils and wedding dresses.

As a curiosity, it is worth saying that the name of these fabrics comes from the town of Tulle, located in the west of France.
